Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
