Cars in Germany's Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Police say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.

A senior representative stated the vandalism left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
